About this Triumph Stag
DEPOSIT TAKEN
Produced from 1970 to 1977 the Triumph Stag was envisioned as a luxury sports car designed to compete directly with the Mercedes-Benz SL class models. All Stags were four seat convertibles powered by a 3. 0 litre Triumph V8 engine with twin Stromberg carburettors and a choice of either Manual or Automatic Transmissions. Very advanced for the era, at launch the car had Power Assisted Steering, Independent Suspension, Servo Assisted Disc/ Drum Brakes and Electric Windows. Only 17, 819 cars were sold in the UK and there were various model changes throughout its production. It would have been a tremendous success if British Leyland had fitted the Rover V8 Engine instead of the new Triumph V8 which unfortunately had a number of problems from the start and modifications introduced later in production were just too late to save the model before it was axed in 1977.
This stunning MKII Triumph Stag - Chassis No: LD411390 and Engine No: LF041097HE is a 'Matching numbers' car and was first registered on 1st May 1976 in Devon with its current number plate NWC 191P. It was restored by Triumph specialists Enginuity in London, W3 in late 2019 and is finished in its original colour scheme of Inca Yellow with Black Ambla trim, brand new Black German Mohair Soft top, new Black wool carpets, its original Triumph V8 3.0 litre Engine, 4 Speed Manual Gearbox with Overdrive, Power Assisted Steering, Electric windows, new rear Seat Belts and its original and refurbished Alloy Wheels.
Works on the car by Enginuity in late 2019/early 2020 included a very high quality bare metal repaint and in addition to the bodywork, it had a full mechanical overhaul in association with Stag specialist Tony Hart (now based in their workshop) with works including a major service, new timing chains, a reconditioned Gearbox, new Clutch, new Fuel Pump and S/V, reconditioned Power Steering Rack, Hart Racing Handling Kit and refurbished Alloy Wheels.
In 2017 both Head were skimmed and refitted with new modified Gaskets + a new Water Pump and a reconditioned Overdrive Unit.
It has only had 5 previous owners from new with the previous owner being an employee of Enginuity who owned the car from 2008 to Feb 2020, so it has as you would expect, been meticulously maintained during their ownership.
We sold the car on their behalf in February 2020 to a client in Scotland with the mileage at the time being 90,269 miles and during his two years of ownership he has only covered 400 miles in the car, but he has fitted a new Wooden Mota-Lita Steering Wheel, a new set of 5 Dunlop Tyres and had a full service carried out in June 2021.
The car does not have much in the way of early service history, but it does have invoices from the early 2000's, MOT history from 2005 to date, photo's of the car during its bare metal restoration in 2019, its original drivers Handbook and National Mileage Register check which confirms it mileage now of 90,662 being correct and two sets of Keys!
The car is genuinely in exceptional condition throughout and very near to 'Concours' in most respects and it really does drive beautifully!
The car is clear on all HPi registers and upon sale it will come with a new MOT and pre-sales checkover + our own 6 Month Mechanical Warranty.
With 'Historic Vehicle' status it is of course Road Tax free and ULEZ exempt!
Car on display @ our showrooms in Mortlake, SW London.
