About this Mercedes-Benz W123
NEW ARRIVAL - ONLY ONE PREVIOUS OWNER & A GENUINE 64,400 MILES FROM NEW!
The Mercedes W123 was the last range of cars that are generally referred to as being 'over-engineered' and built to a standard that has never been equalled since.
Built between 1975 and 1986, they were offered as a Saloon, Coupe or Estate with both Petrol and Diesel engine options available and they were very innovative for their time. Anti-lock braking was offered as an option from as early as August 1980 and risk-adverse drivers could order their new Mercedes with an Airbag from 1982. The cars also featured a retractable steering column and servo-assisted disc brakes and it was renowned for being a safe and reliable vehicle that well-heeled drivers were confident to put their families in.
Almost 100,000 W123 Coupes were built in total during the eight-year production run and the 230CE was a really successful and sought-after variant of the W123 series and the buying public loved them. Revisions in 1982 mean the last W123's are the best of the bunch and a five speed Manual option replaced the original four-speed, along with standard power steering across the range. If you’re in the market for a classic daily driver that’ll swallow a couple of kids plus a loved one for decade after decade, with only the whiff of an oily rag to keep it running sweetly, then look no further than the car we have for sale here.
This beautiful and totally original 'Time-Warp' Mercedes W123 230 CE Coupe - Chassis No: WDB1232432A138664 and Engine No: 10298020155107 is a 'Matching Numbers' car with its original 2299cc 4 cylinder Fuel injected Engine and it is a very rare car indeed, as it was ordered from new with the optional 5Â Speed Manual Gearbox instead of the standard 4 speed Automatic gearbox. It was first registered to its first owner from Hampton, Middlesex on 1st August 1985 and he kept the car for 38 years before we sold it for him to the current collector owner in August 2023.
Since his purchase of the car, it has not been driven more than 100 miles and due to a change in circumstances, he has reluctantly given it back to us to sell on his behalf.
It is finished in the lovely Petrol Blue Metallic with a Beige cloth interior and has an Electric Sun Roof, Electric Windows, Power Steering and sitting on its original Mexican Hat 14" Alloy Wheels with a set of good Toyo Tyres. It has only covered a genuine and very low 64,400 Miles from new and is 100% original including original paint and interior and it has never had any welding and is totally rust-free with excellent paintwork and chrome and the underside is equally clean and rust free. Despite some fading on the top of the rear seat squab, it is in overall excellent condition as can be seen in the photographs.
It is clear on all HPi registers including the National Mileage Register and comes with a huge box file of invoices and paperwork including MOT certificates, all its original books and manuals and a fully stamped service book, plus its original tools, 2 sets of keys and an unused spare wheel with its original Michelin XVS tyre still fitted! This really is a beautiful car that can still be driven and enjoyed on a daily basis. It is not ULEZ exempt at the moment, but it will be eligible for Historic Vehicle status from April 2026.
It is clear on all HPi registers and upon sale it will come with a new MOT and our own 6 Month Mechanical Warranty.
A fantastic car which is very rare with a 5 Speed Manual Gearbox, so it should be a good investment!
