Ultra-Low Emission Zone

On 25th October, London introduced the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) expanding from central London up to the North Circular and South Circular Roads. Most vehicles driving in the ULEZ must meet tight emission standards or pay the daily charge. It is in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is in a bid to make London air cleaner for 3.8 million residents contributing to achieving the lower emission targets.

What cars are compliant:

  • Diesel cars registered from 2015 meet the Euro 6 Standard
  • Petrol cars sold from after 2005, petrol vans sold after 2006 and motorbikes registered after July 2007.
  • Electric vehicles are automatically compliant.

Historic cars do not need to worry, as if your classic motor is more than 40 years old and is registered for the historic vehicle tax class you are exempt!
