About this Porsche 356
Launched in 1948, the Porsche 356 is among the most beloved sports cars from the 1950's and 1960's and was a huge success for Porsche.
With its unique style and agility and superior engineering and build quality, plus increasing success on road and track, by the time 356 production ended in 1965 approximately 76,000 had been produced.
The first 50 cars were produced by Austrian company Porsche Konstruktionen GesmbH in Gmünd, Austria between 1948 and1949 and then the factory relocated to Zuffenhausen in Germany in 1950 and the new German company Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche GmbH was set up. It was Porsche's first production car and the 356 continued to be produced in various guises until April 1965, well after the replacement model - the Porsche 911 made its debut in September 1965. These were expensive cars from the beginning and they remain so today as collector cars, more than doubling in value during the past decade. Of the 76,000 Porsche 356's produced, approximately half still survive.

The 356 T6 C was the pinnacle of 356 development, launched in 63 the ‘C’ featured four wheel disc brakes (first seen on the 2.0 Carrera 2), a more refined ride and excellent performance available as the ‘C’ with 75hp or as the ‘SC’ with 95hp respectively. Road and Track Magazine enthused over its comfort, quality and excellent performance, concluding “one would look a long time before finding a sports or GT car that offers more pure driving enjoyment”.

The record also states that its first owner was a Dr S E Boorany from Johannesburg. The last owner being Mr Peter Dorfer, Registrar of the Porsche 356 Registry in South Africa and also owner of Porsche dealer 'Carrera Motors' in Randburg, Johannesburg. It has received some cosmetic restoration in recent years by Carrera Motors - who closed down a few years back now, but the quality of this car is there for all to see.
We bought the car through a contact in South Africa and prior to shipping to the UK, it was fully re-commissioned and serviced by Porsche specialist 'Flat Six Performance' in Cape Town. The car is now showing 86,054 miles on the speedometer, which we are advised is its original mileage, but without an early paperwork on the car, we are unable to confirm this.
It is in beautiful condition throughout and drives superbly and is finished in its original colour scheme of Signal Red (6407) with a Black Leatherette interior and it is believed to be one of only 300 RHD cars built in 1964 which does make it an exceptionally rare car indeed.
Now UK registered with the DVLA and it has been issued with the age-related number plate DAP 576B.
Upon sale the car will be given a a new MOT (although now exempt) and it will come with our own 6 Month Mechanical Warranty.
