About this Jaguar E-Type
The sublimely beautiful Jaguar E-Type was upgraded in 1968 with the introduction of the Series II versions. Revisions included new and larger lights now positioned below the bumpers, a larger 'mouth' and high-capacity water pump to aid cooling, larger Disc Brakes with 4 pot Brake Calipers and more comfortable reclining seats. The Series II marked the maturation of the landmark E-Type and made a great car even better.
This beautiful Jaguar E Type Series II 4.2 Fixed Head Coupe - Chassis No: 1R20866 and Engine No: 7R127249 is a 'matching numbers' car and was first registered in Boston, Lincolnshire on 1st July 1970.
It is finished in Old English White with its original French Blue Leather interior, Blue carpets, all original dashboard and switches, Stereo/CD player, 4.2 Litre S6 Engine, 4 Speed Manual Gearbox and Chrome Wire Wheels with Avon Tyres.
The car was purchased by the current owner in 2010 after it had been in dry storage in Suffolk for almost 12 years and it was given to specialist Bennicks Motors Ltd in Bury St Edmunds in June 2011 for restoration and re-commissioning which was carried out over a 4 year period and finally completed in October 2015.
The body was completely stripped to bare metal and new front wings were fitted to the bonnet, all rust was removed from the bodyshell and it was treated, primed and repainted. The underside was fully waxoyled and all rubber seals were replaced along with new bonnet beadings, new sill seals, new front and rear screen rubbers, new rear chrome bumpers, new lights, new Headlining, new Carpet set, new bonnet hinges and a new gas struts fitted to the bonnet.
In addition to the body restoration, the car also had the following mechanical works carried out:
Complete rebuild of its 3 SU Carburettors
New Clutch including a new Master Cylinder and Slave Cylinder
New Brake Master Cylinder and pipes
New front & rear Brake Discs and Pads including overhaul of Brake Calipers
New Flexi Brake hoses all round
Overhaul of Handbrake mechanism + new pads
New suspension bushes, new Anti-Roll Bar and Radius Arm bushes
New wheel Bearing Kit
New Chrome Wire Wheels with new Avon Tyres
New Ignition System including new HT leads, Plugs, Points, Condenser & Ignition Coil
New Horns, new Battery and a new Fuel Pump.
All of this work added up to just under £20,000 and the car was finished in October 2015. The mileage on the car at the time of the restoration was 98,171 and in the last 3.5 years since it has only covered just under 1,000 miles and a believed genuine 99,108 miles from new, although this cannot be guaranteed as there is unfortunately no early history with the car to prove.
The car has had 5 former keepers since new and is clear on all HPi Registers with no discrepancy showing on the National Mileage Register.
Upon sale the car will come with our own customer care package including a new MOT, pre sales Service, HPI/provenance Checks, 55-point pre-delivery inspection and 6 months mechanical breakdown Parts & Labour Warranty which can be upgraded and extended at additional cost if required.
This Jaguar E-Type really is in lovely condition throughout and really does drive superbly. It is being offered for sale at a very reasonable and realistic price!
