  • Volkswagen T2 Bay Window Camper Van 1972 (K) Red

This lovely VW T2 Bay window Camper Van was converted by Danbury Conversions Ltd and was first registered on 4th July 1972.

It is known as a Crossover 'Late 72 Bay’ model distinguished by the low front indicators, early wrap around bumpers, tall rear lights, Disc Brakes, supported Gearbox and with the option of Servo Brakes. It has the Danbury conversion with the 'pop-up' roof with two bunks!

Now finished in Red & White with a 1.6 Litre Engine, 4 Speed Gearbox, all the usual Camper van fittings including a fridge, Primer stove, Table, 2 bunk beds in roof and it is fitted with Mercedes 15" Alloy wheels.

This car has had a small fortune spent on it over the years and it has had new sills, a reconditioned engine (3rd one in 20 years) and it was repainted in its current colour scheme a few years ago. It has a recorded 93,300 miles on the speedometer, but as it does not a have a full history from 1972, we are unable to verify this as its original mileage from new, but then again it has had 3 engines in the last 20 years! It is however HPi clear on all registers with no accidents recorded.

It is registered as an Historic Vehicle and is therefore MOT & Road Tax exempt, but we have just obtained a new 12 Month MOT which expires on 22nd March 2020.

It has been in the same ownership for the last 20 years with regular trips to South West France each summer and as the family have all now grown up, it is being sold by us for the owner (family friends) with the instructions that it has to go to a good home!

The car is structurally very good and it drives very well, but it is at the point now where it does require some easy renovation and updating and we have priced the van very keenly to reflect this.

These Camper Vans are becoming highly collectible now and prices continue to rise, so it should be a good investment for the future and one that can be enjoyed with friends and family.

On display @ our showrooms in Mortlake.
