  • Fiat 600 D Seicento 1964 (Historic Plate) Silver

    Description

The Fiat 600 'Seicento' was a super-mini produced by Fiat in Italy between 1955 and 1969 although it continued to be built in various guises by Manfacturers in other parts of the world and continued in production in Argentina until 1982.

Although less popular than the Fiat 500, this car had plenty of things going for it. It started life with a 633cc 4 cylinder engine that was water cooled, whereas the 500 only had a 479cc engine without water cooling. Later editions used both 767cc and 843cc Engines.

U.K sales were never that strong due to the phenomenal success of the Mini, however it was a strong seller in other parts of the world and was declared the best selling car of the 1960s in Argentina.

It was also credited as being the first 'rear engined' Fiat ever! It had 4 drum brakes with a unique suspension set up with independent coil over shock absorbers and the clever design enabled it to carry four adults in a remarkably small unit. Famous for its 'suicide' doors, it is a mere 10? 8? in length and was fitted with a 4 cylinder 767cc water cooled Engine producing 29 bhp, a top speed of 68 mph and 48 mpg!
Fiat?s 600 range proved a huge success and by the end of its 15 year run some 2.6 million had been built.

This 1964 LHD example has the 767cc Engine and a 4 speed Gearbox and the customary 'Suicide' Doors. It is finished in its original colour of Grey with Red Vinyl seats, Black rubber matting and original steel wheels. The speedometer is showing 57,000 KMS, but sadly there is no previous history with the car (pretty normal for Italy) and therefore we cannot confirm the true mileage. It was repainted in Italy and imported to the UK last year and was featured in Classic & Sportscar magazine last summer.

This is a fabulous and very original example in beautiful condition and is great fun to drive. It will be fully serviced, MOT'd and UK registered upon sale.

These are very rare cars now and prices are certainly moving upwards, so it should be a good investment!
