  • Fiat 500C Topolino 1950 (Registered Overseas) Green

    Description

    DEPOSIT TAKEN

The Fiat 500 commonly known as Topolino was manufactured by Fiat from 1936 to 1955. The name "Topolino" translates literally as little mouse in Italian, but is also the Italian name for Mickey Mouse.

The Topolino was one of the smallest cars in the world at the time of its launch in 1937 and three models were produced until 1955, all with only minor mechanical and cosmetic changes. It was equipped with 'suicide' doors and had a 569cc 4 cylinder side-valve water-cooled engine mounted in front of the front axle and the radiator was located behind the engine which gave an aerodynamic nose profile at a time when competitors had a flat, nearly vertical grille, and this allowed exceptional forward visibility.

Three models were produced - Model A, Model B & Model C. Model A was produced from 1937 to 1948, while B was produced in 1948 and 1949. Model A was offered as a 2-door saloon, 2-door convertible saloon (saloon with folding roof) and a 2-door van. Model B also introduced a 3-door estate under the name 500B Giardinetta. Model C was introduced in 1949 with a restyled body and was offered in 2-door saloon, 2-door convertible saloon, 3-door estate and a 2-door van.

The price at launch was 9,750 lire and nearly 520,000 were sold before the Model C ceased production in 1955.

According To Fiat's archive records, this Fiat 500C Topolino - Chassis no: 216346 was produced by Fiat in Turin on 4th August 1950 and was first registered in Italy where it has remained until being imported to the UK earlier this year.

It is in pretty solid condition and mechanically very sound, but it is being sold as a restoration project. It is MOT'd and we are just in the process of registering the car here in the UK.

A relatively easy restoration project which upon completion would command over £20,000 if restored nicely!
