Fiat 124 Spider 1800 (CS1) 1978 (S) Blue Light
This Fiat 124 1800 CS1 Spider - Chassis No: 124CS1-0141606 and Engine no: 132A103160791992 is a 'Matching Numbers' car and was built in Italy and supplied to Fiat dealer Brea Sports Cars Incorporated of Brea, Orange County, California, USA and delivered to its first owner a Miss Jill Elkim of Tarzana, Los Angeles, California and first registered on 6th October 1978.
It is finished in its original colour scheme of Fiat Light Metallic Blue with Beige vinyl seats and trim, Blue Carpets, New Blue Mohair Soft Top, 1756cc Twin Cam engine, 5 Speed Manual Gearbox, original Fiat Steering Wheel, period AM/FM Radio and Steel wheels with Chrome hub caps.
The car remained in her ownership until early 1990 when it was sold and imported to the UK and registered here as BLE 482S on 17th August 1990 with the mileage of 84,397 from new. It was sold by Fiat 124 specialist DTR Sportscars to its first owner in Barnes, London, SW13 on 28th August 1990 and he kept the car for 8 years before it was sold to the current owner in 1998 and who has now owned the car for 22 years!
The car was regularly serviced by DTR until 2008 and there are lots of invoices in the file for various works undertaken including routine servicing. The car was barely used from 2009 through to 2014 and was then put in secure storage until being taken out in 2019. Between 2008 and 2019 it was only driven just over 2,000 miles and it has now covered a genuine 120,420 miles from new!
We have just recommissioned the car and given it a Full Service with a new Cam belt, all fluids changed including engine oil, gearbox, rear axle and brake fluid, new filters, a new rear brake caliper and handbrake cable, new front suspension bushes and fitted 4 new Kumho tyres + a brand new MOT (10/02/2021).
There is the odd paint blemish on the car, but nothing drastic and overall the bodywork is really very nice and the underside is totally rust free! The interior trim is original and actually pretty good and commensurate with its age. The original Beige vinyl hood was serviceable but not in great condition, so we have also fitted a brand new Blue German Mohair soft top which has transformed the appearance of this car and it looks fabulous! All chrome work is extremely good as are the chrome hub caps and body fittings.
Overall this is a lovely car and mechanically excellent and it really does drive exceptionally well. It does come with its original Fiat Service book and Drivers Handbook, lots of Fiat 124 literature including a binder full of invoices, a copy of the sales article and road test report featuring this car from Classic & Sports Car magazine in April 1990 and Fiat 124 Spider Register documentation.
Upon sale the car will come with our own 6 Month Mechanical Warranty which can be upgraded and extended if required. It is of course MOT and Road Tax exempt being classified as an Historic Vehicle.
From the early 1990's through to the early 2000's we sold well over 100 124 Spider's and where they have all gone now we have no idea, but if you are looking for a really honest and rust-free example, this really is a car not to be missed!
