  • Citroen DS 21 Pallas 1968 (Private plate) Silver

    Description

The Citro?n DS was manufactured by Citro?n from 1955 to 1975 and was styled by Italian designer Flaminio Bertoni and the French aeronautical engineer Andr? Lef?bvre. The DS was known for its aerodynamic futuristic body design and innovative technology including Hydropneumatic self-levelling Suspension with variable ground clearance which allowed the car to achieve sharp handling combined with very high ride quality. It was also the first mass production car with front power Disc Brakes and Directional Headlamps were introduced in September 1967.

Citro'n sold nearly 1.5 million D-series during the model's 20-year production run and it came third in the 1999 'Car of the Century' competition and was named the most beautiful car of all time by Classic & Sports Car magazine after a poll of 20 world-renowned car designers.

This lovely 1968 LHD DS 21 Pallas was imported from Paris, France in 1995 and was purchased by the current owner and his partner in November 1998. It was originally Cream with a Red velour interior but in 2005 he commissioned Autocar Repairs of Dulwich to restore the car and this was carried out over a 2 year period and finished in 2007 at a cost of ?8,000.

In addition to this restoration which also involved some replacement panels the car was painted in Silver Metallic and the owner obtained a Black Leather interior + new carpets and in total spent almost ?12,000 on the restoration.

The car has its original 2175cc Engine, Semi-Automatic Transmission, Power Steering, Directional Headlamps, Black leather trim, its beautiful and original dashboard and fabulous chromework. It has been maintained and MOT'd each year by Autocar Repairs and it has recently had 2 new hydropneumatic spheres fitted.

The car has now covered 81,600 Kilometers which the owner believe's to be genuine, but unfortunately we cannot prove this. There are photograph's of the restoration + an original Handbook and sales literature in the file along with invoices for work carried out. It is in lovely condition throughout and really needs to be seen to be appreciated. (Private plate not included)
