    Description

    Austin Healey 3000 Mk 3 BJ8 Convertible UK / RHD 1967 ? Outstanding! ?47,750

Built on 11th to the 31st July 1967 & dispatched on the 2nd August to Voss Motors Ltd, Liverpool, with its first proud owner registering the vehicle on the 8 August, this UK RHD home market vehicle has had a further 5 previous owners as noted on the V5C, indeed the vehicle still wears the original registration number according to the Heritage Certificate. The recent gentlemen owner from Harrogate is an avid AH club member & has owned the vehicle for the past 9 years. Indeed it was he, whom entrusted the vehicle to Yorkshire Restorations whom carried out a full & thorough mechanical rebuild including the engine being fully rebuilt with Dennis Welch Motorsport components to Stage 2 Fast Road specification, with no expense being spared ? literally. Further more the vehicle underwent a full refresh in 2007 by Mike Lambert & this year a further ?14K+ has been spent to keep it in outstanding condition including a full professional repaint by ourselves.

This impressive vehicle is a final year of production BJ8 model and thus has leather occasional rear seats fitted along with all the later improvements that make these attractive vehicles more easy to live with, its trimmed with a blue full leather interior with a new blue quality matching carpet set, quality new hood, hood cover and tonneau & the fresh paintwork is finished in resplendent AH ice blue metallic over old English white, to complement the package the vehicle rides on perfect chrome wires with excellent matching tyres.

Showing 50,615 miles believed correct, (with 29 MOT?s dating back to 1982, but with only circa 15,000 miles on the fully rebuilt 2912cc Dennis Welch Stage 2 engine with accompanying invoices for the full rebuild and naturally fitted with working overdrive.

The vehicle comes complete with a full & comprehensive history file containing, V5C, previous V5C?s, Fresh HPI report (Clear), Heritage Certificate, Current MOT, 29 previous MOT?s, AH Club Ltd registration sheet & past membership cards, V11?s, Valuation & full report dated 18th November 2003 stating amongst other things how good the vehicle is & valuing it at ?30K & that was prior to the current owner having the mechanicals fully rebuilt & the body repainted! , Over 85 service, parts & maintenance invoices dating back to 1999, Previous owners details, Notes from previous owners & parts lists used along with exploded diagrams, Previous receipts of sale, Further past valuation & report dated June 2000, again giving the vehicle a glowing report, Vehicle valuations, Insurance valuation certs & details going back over the years, Owners log of costs for restoration, Detailed photos of engine & full suspension & braking restoration , Further photos of the vehicle with owner, Photos of the current full professional repaint by ourselves, Drivers handbook etc?

This vehicle was subject to a full & thorough engine rebuild using Dennis Welch parts totalling ?635.15, with labour on top at over ?3000 by Yorkshire Restorations Ltd in the summer of 2004. It was rebuilt to Stage 2 Fast Road specification & has an unleaded head (competition valve springs, roller rocker kit, hydraulic tensioners, vernier cam sprocket, competition timing chain, heavy duty clutch, gearnob with Overdrive switch, carb exhaust manifold) & also had all ancillary parts replaced, including the brake pipes, choke set, leads, plugs, breather hoses, brake hoses, belts, filter kit, oil cooler kit, rear hubs, gear box mounts, alternator, brass bush & full service. The gear box was also fully rebuilt by a specialist at a further ?873.73 at the same time. The suspension was fully rebuilt (Dennis Welch suspension handling kit) along with the brakes & a new stainless steel exhaust at a further ?3,974.03 and then the radiator was replaced along with some further Dennis Welch parts at ?843.27?

Further in 2007 the vehicle underwent a compressive repaint in the original colours by Mike Lambert and part new chrome was also fitted along with new beading & seals etc, along with full under body waxing. Also Dennis Welch Motorsport shock absorbers, bush set & a poly wish bone set were also fitted.

In 2008 a further ?1,068 was spent on the seats and new inertia seat belts & in 2012 Orchard Restorations fitted a new blue quality hood with grey underside & zip out rear window, along with new OE quality blue carpet set, recolonized the blue leather interior, replaced the windscreen rubber seal, door seals, overhauled the brake system, detailed the engine bay, full wiring test & check over, new door top chromes, foot well panels & replacement of other rubber seals at a cost of ?5,000.

We have also now professionally adjusted all the opening panels to make as perfect as a Healey can be, completed a full & thorough professional repaint of the vehicle to bring it to show standard (the existing paint finish was indeed very good but on adjustment of all the opening panels, this left small areas of paintwork of a lesser standard, which would not be acceptable to a discerning buyer, so a full repaint was the only answer!), including the door returns, inner face of engine lid & boot lid etc, a full engine service, new starter motor, tune & multi point check with a 2 hour test drive ? I just could not resist using it when the sun came out!

This vehicle has also had the engine bay detailed and professionally valeted on completion, we have also checked the under sealing and upgraded it to a Wurth spray gun applied product. We have spent in access of ?5,750 (at cost) and it shows. Thus the vehicle is on the button, looks absolutely stunning & is the quickest AH 3000 we have ever driven!

MOT with NO advisories running until 25th September 2013.

Historic (Free) Road Tax running to summer 2013.

The vehicle has excellent chrome wire wheels shod with as new Fulda matching tyres & comes with a jack, brace & rawhide wooden mallet for those chrome spinners. A painted wire spare wheel & good tyre also accompany the vehicle.

Original wood rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel fitted & wood finished dash.

    Inertia seat belts fitted.

Kenlow fan & Dennis Welch supplied oil cooler.

    Stainless steel exhaust fitted.

Chrome badge bar fitted with chrome driving lamps.

All keys are present with an AH key ring & tax disc holder.

Excellent matching blue Hood, Tonneau cover, frame & hood cover accompany the vehicle.

Period Motorola radio fitted along with dash mounted chrome speaker.

The vehicle is on the button and ready for those European tours or classic car shows. It is by far the quickest driving 3000 Mk 3 we have ever had the pleasure in offering and I would be extremely proud to own this vehicle, in fact when we had it up on our ramps for its inspection it looked as good underneath as it does on top.

It?s priced to sell as we are a Mercedes Pagoda and R107 specialist, so please don?t miss this lovely example of the iconic AH 3000 Mk3 that has been maintained regardless of cost & comes complete with a comprehensive history file with fresh unmarked paintwork in the most attractive colour combination. This vehicle offers exceptional value at the price offered & will only increase in value, viewing & test driving is highly recommended. We also have a 3000 Mk 1 in Colorado red over OEW which is currently having an engine out full professional repaint along with new cills etc?
