  • Aston Martin DB5 1965 (C) Silver

The Aston Martin DB5 has become very famous and collectible and due to one simple fact - it was James Bond's car of choice!

The Superleggera (super light) aluminium body was hand built by Aston Martin in their factory in Newport Pagnell and was fitted onto an accomplished steel chassis. The power unit is a straight six 4.0 litre engine producing 282 bhp and mated to a Five Speed ZF Gearbox. With a deep sound from its twin pipes and a low sporting stance, it was good for 145mph and was the grand tourer to have in the Sixties.
In 2010 a James Bond Aston Martin DB5 changed hands for a staggering 3 million. It was one of the original movie cars from Goldfinger. - and cars such as the one we are selling are now fetching anything from 200,000 to 400,000.

This car: Chassis No: DB5 1930R is a matching numbers car and was first registered in England in early 1965. It is just being re-commissioned after being laid up in a garage in the West Country since 1976 and although it was originally produced in light metallic Blue, it was repainted in Silver in the mid 1970's and has just been repainted again in the customary Silver Birch.
The interior trim is finished in its original Blue Hide which is in very good condition, but the remainder of the interior including carpets and headlining have been replaced. The original 5 Speed ZF Gearbox works perfectly, but the Engine has just been rebuilt by Aston Martin Engine Specialists 'Headshop (UK) Ltd' in Warrington, Cheshire. The car now has new Gaz Shock Absorbers, new Cooper-Craft Brakes, a Hayward & Scott Stainless Steel Exhaust system plus new stove enamelled Wire Wheels with new Tyres and the bumpers are currently being re-chromed.

It had only covered a genuine 48,000 miles when it was put into storage almost 25 years ago.

The car is due for completion by the middle of June 2013 now due to some unforeseen delays and the price will be circa £475,000 depending on final restoration costs.
